Will I Need To Put Down A Large Deposit?

Most buy to let properties in the UK will be in sterling, thus if you are an non-resident investor, you will have to convert your deposit from your native currency into sterling. The average deposit for a buy to let property in the UK is 25%.In the case of buy-to-let mortgages, the maximum amount you can obtain is 85% LTV. Income generated from the property will be in sterling and therefore to limit exposure to exchange rates, it is a good idea to let this income off against sterling mortgage payments. The higher the deposit you can afford will result in more oppurtunities and better terms from the buy to let lenders. Keeping an eye on your mortgage product is important as the UK mortgage market is very competitive and remortgaging is becoming very popular in the UK.
